Vidya Balan was basically born in Kerala but to Tamilian parents, the actress who grew up in South found her calling in the Bollywood industry.
She was signed on her debut Malayalam film featuring Mohanlal that got shelved due to unknown reasons. Because a Mohanlal film had never got shelved, producers considered Vidya to be be jinxing the projects and so removed her from 12 other films that she had been signed for.
When she shifted focus to Tamil cinema, she got replaced twice with other actresses who are now a big name in Tamil film industry. Finally the actress completed a Bengali movie in 2003, which saw the light of day.
